Company billing

A company account is a single payer that covers a group of people's access to Plank, instead of each person holding their own subscription. One bill, one admin, one shared usage allowance.

Company accounts are set up for you, not self-serve yet — in Settings → Billing, use Teams and companies → Talk to us to tell us about your team and we'll come back with pricing. This page explains what you and your teammates will see once it's set up.

What a member sees

If you've been added to a company account, Settings → Billing shows "Billed to <company name>" instead of a plan you manage yourself. There's no Upgrade button, no Manage Subscription, and no Change plan option anywhere in the app, including the full-screen paywall you'd otherwise see if your access lapsed — none of that applies to you, because your company's admin handles it.

If you ever leave the company account, you go back to your own personal billing — your own trial or subscription, exactly as if you'd never been covered.

The two coverage modes

A company account can cover its members in one of two ways, set by the company's admin:

  • Only workspaces owned by the company. The company pays for specific shared workspaces it owns. Anything you do in your own personal workspace still counts against your own plan.
  • Everything members do, including their own workspaces. The company pays for all of it — the shared company workspaces and every member's personal workspace. This is the broader mode: nothing a covered member does falls back to their own billing.

Whichever mode is set, the app always tells you plainly whose plan a given workspace is billed to.

Invites — copy a link, no email

Plank has no email sending for invites. When a company admin invites you, they generate a one-time invite link and send it to you themselves — by chat, email, however they'd normally reach you. Plank does not email it on your behalf.

To accept: open the link, log in (or sign up) with the email address the invite was sent to, and you're added to the company account. An invite link expires after 7 days and can only be used once. If your link says it's expired or already used, ask your admin for a fresh one.

What the company admin sees

The admin's usage panel shows how much of the shared monthly allowance has been used, and each member's share of that usage — as percentages, not dollar amounts. Plank doesn't show a company admin what anyone was actually charged; the meter and the panel always agree, because they're built from the exact same numbers.

If the shared allowance runs out for the month, every covered member is paused until it resets on the account's next billing date, or the company moves to a larger plan.

Team plans change by talking to us, not in the app. A company plan isn't something you can switch yourself from Settings → Billing — the plan picker there covers personal plans only, so an admin on a team plan won't see it. What they see is their current plan, the shared usage meter, and Talk to us on the "Teams and companies" card. Use that to move up or down a team tier; we'll handle the change.
